NEW DELHI: Commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday said that the government’s mandatory standard certification norms for toys sold in India were facing maximum objection from those local players who were mainly importers.
Addressing a Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) event, Goyal said that several objections had been raised and those who opposed were “importers in the garb of manufacturers”. He said the government was not opposed to imports, but they must comply with domestic standards.
