Chipmaker MediaTek has announced that the company’s Dimensity series of 5G chipsets will power the upcoming 5G smartphones in the country. The firm says that it expects the first phone powered by the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ chip to launch early in 2021.
Announced earlier this year, the Dimensity 1000+ chipset is said to offer 5G capabilities like dual 5G SIM, carrier aggregation (2CC 5G-CA), faster speeds, and MediaTek’s 5G UltraSave power-saving technology. The processor offers MediaTek MiraVision which the company says brings features like resolution upscaling, enhanced HDR10+ playback and AI Picture quality.
MediaTek HyperEngine game technology on the chipset is said to provide a fluid, responsive and reliable gaming experience with graphics to match on 120Hz gamer-ready displays. It offers HDR-native ISP support for up to four camera sensors and up to 64MP sensors.
In related news, Realme has launched its Realme X7 Pro 5G phone with MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ chipset. The handset is equipped with a 6.55-inch AMOLED display and offers a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone’s screen has a touch sampling rate of 240Hz and has a 91.6% screen-to-body ratio. The device is backed by a 4,500mAh battery. It is currently available in Thailand and is likely to be announced in other global markets including India.
