‘Moment of this Test’: Siraj-Bumrah hug wins hearts on social media | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Mohammed Siraj picked up his maiden five-wicket haul on Day 4 of the Gabba Test against Australia. Wrapping up Australia’s second innings with the final wicket of Josh Hazlewood, Siraj finished with career best figures of 5/73 in what is just his third Test.
Leading the Indian team towards the dressing room while simultaneously acknowledging the crowd with the match ball in hand, an elated Siraj met pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah on the sidelines.
A proud Bumrah, who was unable to feature in the match due to an injury, hugged Siraj, congratulating him for achieving the feat.

Fans on social media appreciated the camaraderie after seeing the video of two India pacers sharing a beautiful moment.

Playing only his third Test, Siraj has had a tough past couple of months. The 26-year-old lost his father in November last year, but decided to stay on with the team in Australia. Siraj also overcame racial slurs from the crowd during the third Test in Sydney.
On Day 4 of the Gabba Test, Siraj and Shardul Thakur picked up 9 wickets between them to restrict Australia to 294 in the second innings, giving India a fighting chance to win the series Down Under.
India were 4/0, in their chase of 328 in the final session when rain forced early stumps on Day 4. If India win or draw the Test, they will retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
